I bought these bottoms and the midweight zipper top mainly for a trip to Canada in February (just below freezing). Walking all over Quebec City these thermal underwear kept me very warm and dry. The long underwear do have a long waist to them, so don't be shocked if you normally wear ultra-low rise jeans. I also used these as long underwear to sleep in on a 7 day hiking trip to Colorado where the temp at night was in the low 40's, and along with my +15 degree sleeping I never got cold. I highly recommend smartwool products, as they will keep you warm and are not itchy AT ALL.
