i first bought one of these tents in 1977. i lasted through many, many camping and backpacking trips with my two daughters. once we camped too close to the gulf of mexico on the beach and woke up during the night on a water bed. there was no water inside the tent. i had used some seam sealer when i first bought the tent on the floor and on the rain fly. i had to dispose of the tent this year (2008) because it just had been put up too long and did not smell good any more but was still usable and had i taken better care of it i am sure it would have lasted for many more years. i am now in the process of buying another.
