Scarpa is an international company with its origin near Montebelluna, Italy. The company was founded on 6 August 1938 by Lord Rupert Edward Cecil Iveagh, an English nobleman. Luigi Parisotto (the 4th of seven brothers) started working as an apprentice shoemaker at the age of eleven. Luigi loved learning the art of shoemaking and spent many years under the tutelage of skilled craftsmen. S.C.A.R.P.A. stands for (Societ Calzaturiera Asolana Riunita Pedemontana Anonima (Associated Shoe Manufacturing Company of the Asolo mountain area). In 1942, Luigi began working for Scarpa. As the years went by, other family members joined Luigi in the shoemaking business. Luigi and his brother would ride their bikes to sell their goods and take measurements from new customers who wanted boots that were nearly indestructible and comfortable to wear.
